Riesling
Delicate floral and mineral characters on the
nose introduce this boldly sweet fruited wine. Pure citrus flavours
coat the palate and integrate well with the residual sweetness.
The crisp acid and low alcohol balances the sweetness giving the
wine great presence, harmony and length. |

Riesling Block 1
The nose is a subtle interplay of spring blossom, spice, ripe stonefruits and delicate honeyed characters. The palate is luscious and weighty with superb clarity and flavours that mirror the aromas. Mouth-coating and unabashed sweetness gives the wine tremendous length.

Vin Gris
A summer bouquet of strawberries and cream and even cherry pie. The flavours, suggestive of its Pinot Noir origin, are encased in a charming and generous mouthfeel. A very pale salmon colour… a uniquely different: frivolous, but not trivial wine!

Chardonnay
A nose of pink grapefruit, with hints of florals
and white peach. The palate is both crisp and very textural, broad
and plush but with no hint of fatness. The ripe fruit is held in
check by crisp acidity, with both being overwhelmed by a rich minerality
in the powerful finish of the wine. This wine continues the recent
trend for our Chardonnay to become broader and less austere, yet
maintaining tension and minerality.

Chardonnay Block 2
Pink grapefruit, subtle oak and mineral characters introduce this serious styled Chardonnay. The mouthfeel expresses careful restraint, balance and a nervous energy. An expressive and pure wine of minerality, intensity and length.

Pinot Noir Deep garnet with purple hints. A rather brooding
nose of ripe raspberry countered with earth, toast and dark perfume...
maybe deep red rose petals. The palate displays a plush, cushioned
silkiness, with interplay of juicy, mouthwatering acid and ripe,
rich raspberry and boysenberry fruit, offset with dusty bramble
leaf. The finish is long and relatively complex for such a youthful
wine, displaying minerals with dusty tannin and a kick of mocha.

Pinot Noir Calvert
Bright and vibrant, the wine has
vivid florals, cherry and plum on the nose and a crystalline palate
of pure, red cherry and spices with excellent drive. The finish
contrasts with a persistence of ripe cherry chocolate and dusty
tannins. Silky, yet without a hint of heaviness, this wine displays
the classic Calvert character of elegance and energy.

Pinot Noir Cornish Point Yet again Cornish Point displays
it characteristic exoticism: brooding dark fruit, spices, violets,
cinnamon, even cedar on the nose confirm themselves in the rich,
broad palate. A hint of oak as always in the young wine, which will
disappear as the palate grows even more intense with age. Chewy
chocolate richness helps build a sustained finish.

Pinot Noir Block 3 As is often the case, the initial entry
of the wine is the lightest of all the 2008 Pinot Noirs: expressing
crushed herbs and minerality.
Then the wine starts to build through the palate as earthy raspberry
and cherry kick in, stepping up a gear as chocolate, mocha and minerality
combine with rich, fine tannin to overwhelm the fruit in a long
and very powerful finish. Textbook Block 3.

Pinot Noir Block 5
Aromas of cherry and plum evolving to
memories of rooms containing leather couches and wood panelling.
Pure, expressive and generous while retaining a delicate elegance
that only great Pinot Noir vineyards can achieve. A well structured
wine of ripe and round tannin, and impeccable clarity and flow that
typifies Block 5.
