2003 Pinot Noir Block 3

2003 Pinot Noir Block 3

DOWNLOAD TASTING NOTE

Tasting Date: 14 November 2008

Deep perfumed and floral nose of violets and rose petals while slowly opening up to show hints of dried herbs; a complex nose that displays the full essence of Central Otago. A sweet entry with a restrained centre of ripe fruits to the wine. The tannins provide "grainy-ness" that leaves a balanced and structured finish.

Wine Advocate: 2003 Felton Road Pinot Noir Block 3 89 points

Slightly lighter in colour than the 2001. The nose is certainly lacking some of the definition and vigour of the previous vintage with very ripe red and black cherries, redcurrants and plum. The palate is full-bodied with rounded plum-flavoured fruit. It lacks the acidity and tension one normally finds with Block 3. Sits rather than seduces the palate. Drink now-2010. Tasted January 2008.
